Is this because I am compressing the textures when importing them? I was reading up on differences between RGBA and DXT (DTX?) and came across the term lossy compression. I’m guessing that means you sacrifice quality for reduced file size. Might my texture qualities imrpove if I go uncompressed?
You have to look at the options in the inspector when you click on the texture in unity. There you can set the size and compression. By default unity makes them 1024 x 1024 and compresses them. ( at least it does for me ) Hope that helps.
Well, I do know how to change the import settings, but I’m asking if the possible explanation in the degredation of the quality of my textured is because I am compressing them.
Of course the difference between compression or not is huge.
For Gui textures I use to avoid compression (RGBA) for huge texture (lightmapping) compression does not change a lot the final rendering.
I’m using 2048x1024 textures for planets. Think it is an issue for those?
