TotalBiscuit took a sledge-hammer to war Z and completely smashed it, not only did the metacritic score get taken apart its now 1.5 (user score) but its now actually removed from steam. So the point is 1 man can wreck your game
Totalbiscuit Look what can’t be bought on Steam anymore. Yup, The War Z. It is a good week.
IMO, it looks like a less sh*t version of Day-Z anyways, which IMO was also a pile of crap. I dont know why it was so popular… maybe cause it was slightly unique.
The argument about having to pay for this game and not having to pay for dayz is also rubbish. I specifically brought that arma2 crap just to play dayz, which I spent about 30 mins playing before I decided I had just wasted my money.
Well everything he pointed out is actually true! I had a gift code, immediately I noticed all the low poly meshes, textures, extreme lag and generally bad mechanics. It just took TotalBiscuit, a man with several thousands of fans and a influence on AAA game developers, to crush the game. Although if I for example hated your game or 20 of me did, it wouldn’t really matter, it’s just big YouTubers you guys need to look out for and please them
Yeah, Arma 2 is more like a simulator, so it doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. But buying it just to play a mod that’s in its alpha state is a decision you knowingly made. More research before buying things is always a good idea ;).
I haven’t played the game, so I don’t know if what you say is true or not, but I can say that I think people shouldn’t base their opinions solely on online game reviews.
Not if its unfounded. The problem with that title is, they tried to take everyone for a ride and it backfired. TotalBiscuit didn’t do it any more than kotaku would do it. What did it was the fact they launched a totally unfinished game, lied to people and managed to slip it behind steam’s back - against their terms and conditions of service. It was an unfinished buggy, broken mess with a lot of BS. So not surprised it is removed.
From everything I read, War Z was a total cash grab, a bad, unfinished game, with many false claims even on the original Steam page and Steam should have been ashamed of selling it. In fact Steam have lost a good deal of respect from myself (not that they would care), but I also suspect from a decent and vocal proportion of consumer base too. What is surprising is that they didn’t take it down sooner, or perhaps more so that they didn’t even bother QA-ing it before putting it up! Prior to this I trusted Steam to ensure a level of quality to the games they sell, now i’m not so sure.
Whilst TB has some influence, I do not believe that one man alone was responsible for it being taken down. He was reporting the problem and at best gave the wide spread recognition it deserved, just like any other media outlet might have. So whilst his video may have been the point at which Steam finally started to take notice (debatable), it isn’t simply that he disliked the game that got it removed, but that the game itself was deeply flawed and had numerous questionable aspects to it being released in the first place.
thanks for the video with the trucks it is a total money grab for truck drivers. if you want some really funny-hilarious physics bugs, check out the above video.
I don’t think it’s fair on people that pay money releasing the game the same as above, with micro-transactions, the fact it has micro-transactions shows that it’s obviously a money grab, and the quality of the game is not of much importance to the creator. you could argue that it’s a good game for 12-year-olds, but if you can’t respawn for an hour after their spawn bug kills you instantly-it seems dishonest.
If the game was good, that biscuit guy would have simply lost credibility. You can’t trash just any game, only those who are just about to fall under their own weight, it only takes a little push.
