The Chase - Simple PC Runner

Hello all, my name is Tyler (JustAGameDev) and i’ve been working on this small Runner for about a month now and yesterday i had it tested by a family friend. He said it was pretty good so i decided to release it now to get true feedback and review’s of it.

What it is: The Chase is a simple PC runner, where you (The Runner) are being chased the enemy. You have to collect speedboost on the ground to run faster, and avoid obstacles and the enemy, which both drain your speed.

How to Play: The controls are fairly simple. ‘WASD’ or the arrow keys to move. ‘E’ to switch camera views. ‘Space’ to restart the level (In case you get stuck) and ‘Escape’ to quit the entire application. Collect speedboost, avoid the enemy and obstacles, and try to run as far as you can.

How to Win: I’ve gotten at the most 45 speedboost in a single run. Can you beat that? Post your losing screen to earn the right to boast!

**KnownIssues:

  • Transition Tiles will sometimes stack, laggin the game hard and stopping progress. Just reset the level.
  • Enemy may run into player causing player to float in mid air, losing control. Reset level or wait until on ground again.
  • Player may get stuck if hitting a sharp corner. Reset level.
  • Player may experience sudden grief of disappointment due to difficulty of game. Please reset feelings.

Worked on a Main menu and HUD touch up today. Also added a pause menu Nothing too major just figured it needed a change.

Proud to say that we are officially in v0.2 of my game!

Changes in v0.2:

  • Revamped HUD and Main Menu
  • Added Pause Menu
  • Added Settings Menu
  • Added Shield Meter and Shield Power
  • Made Enemy slightly Faster
  • Map no longer transitions for you, added Mouse Look so now player must transition manually

Known Issues

  • Map will still generate multiple tiles, forcing player to reset.
  • Enemy will still “push” player, forcing him to go in air and lose control until back on ground

All the code that im making right now is actually through Playmaker. All visual scripting as me and coding dont get along too well haha

Big update coming Monday / Tuesday + we will be updating to version 0.3. In the meantime, thanks for the support!

Proud to announce this morning that we have just entered Pre-Alpha Version 0.3!

Things that are different:

  • Added Speed Flames (A New thing to avoid as it will drain your speed faster than the enemy will)
  • Added Obstacle Destruction
  • Added Frontal Shield
  • Improvements to various UI elements and title screen
  • Adjusted a few values pertaining to speed and damage taken
  • Added new animations
