The Great Wobo Escape (2.5D Action Puzzle Platformer)

Help the high-tech robot Wobo in his epic runaway story from a destiny of an enslaved, disposable mining cog to his dreamed freedom. Alone and unarmed, the only chance is to hide in shadows, use the environment to your favor while crushing the dieselpunk enemies. Fast paced action-adventurous platforming in atmospheric sci-fi locations combined with creating diversion, causing chaos and avoiding tricky hazards. The fate of your small buddies, crushed by heavy mining work in dozens is also in stake!

Gameplay Description

The game is most of all an epic escape of the main character – a state of the art high-tech robot named Wobo. As in every escape, you first have to figure a way leading to an exit by finding the right path out of many possibilities. Navigating Wobo through a maze of tunnels in various locations is not just about using elevators, bridges, pushing levers, unlocking doors and finding the hidden passages. To stay safe you also have to avoid hazards, eliminate dangerous traps, clear obstacles in your path and solve clever puzzles to advance.
As Wobo is unarmed, he must stay away from security cameras and turrets to avoid alarms that would compromise his escape. A face to face encounter with any enemy would be deadly for him, his only way is to outsmart them, hide in shadows and blend in with his surroundings. Saving his small buddies – Woblings brings optional yet challenging twist to every level and alters the climax of the subtle sci-fi side storyline.

Find the way
Wobo’s journey starts with figuring out the right path (leading towards the end of each level – to an exit) through platform-like levels. Not every walkway is solid enough to walk, not every elevator gets you closer to the safety. Large level can be a maze on their own - locate and switch the correct levers, discover secret passages, use elevators or assembly lines, turn on bridges, hack computer terminals, open the right doors… But most importantly don’t get lost a keep running, every minute counts and the fate of all robots depends on you!

Save your buddies
Optionally, Wobo might find and save his small robot buddies - Woblings. Scattered or hidden throughout each level, waiting to be ‘hacked’ first in order to follow Wobo and be rescued. This side quest brings new thrilling approach to every level, creates additional challenges for more replayability and also increases overall score to unlock further bonuses. But most importantly, it allows you to follow a subtle moral sub-plot, a story twist altering the game’s ending.

Face or outsmart enemies
Letting Wobo escape is just too risky for the H.A.R.M. corporation - the owner of the mining colony, all the robots and Wobo as well. They will try to stop him at all costs. As Wobo is unarmed, you have to choose to either face enemies by turning their own guns against them or to avoid and trick them. Robotic security guards, flying drones, mobile sentry gunners and many other evil robots will try to find and shut down Wobo. Can Wobo die? Not really, he will be just powered down, his internal memory will be erased and circuits will be recycled. Which is basically a death for a robot, right?

Stay hidden
Make sure he will stay undetected by security cameras and turrets to avoid alarms. Rather use the environment to your advantage – blend in, stay hidden or outsmart enemies otherwise your escape will be quickly compromised. What is more, dangerous traps will make the route even more challenging.

Solve puzzles, avoid hazards and traps
Get Wobo in one piece over the landscape full of enemies and hazards, eliminate traps, clear obstacles and solve various puzzles to create a safe passage for him and his fellow robots. The greatest journey ever taken by mechanical beings can change the fate of all robots.

Progress and unlock new stuff
The game has 25 levels* grouped into episodes. Each episode progresses the story of the mining robots, brings new enemies in various new locations and also some new abilities for Wobo. Primary objectives in each level are complemented by a set of secondary tasks to complete – save all Woblings, hack every computer console, avoid any alarms, etc. Completing those not only gives you a higher score for the level, it can also unlock some extras like character models in a showcase, high-res wallpapers, costumes/skins for Wobo or his enemies, etc.

About
Graphics is set in full 3D environment with 2D movements (known as 2.5D). Total play time is approx. 8 hours for all episodes combined. The game will be released at first for Android and iOS mobiles tablets, later for the PC/Mac as a HD re-edition (higher texture quality, larger levels, special effects not possible on mobile devices, additional bonuses and content, etc.).

A fresh new object just made it to the game. This little beast will make Wobo’s life and survival much harder. If you fail to escape, you’ll be crushed instantaneously!

Looks sweet!

Thank you! Much more art is in our DeviantArt profile.

We are proud to present the first video trailer from our game – The Great Wobo Escape.

It is a Tech Demo from an early version of the game. It demonstrates crouching, using a computer consoles or a chase by a searchlight camera bot. Many things are still not finished and with new videos you’ll hopefully see all the progress we make and the more polish we add.

The video starts with a flyover of a level. Wobo’s first obstacle in his escape is a security video camera. After crouching down to stay hidden, the camera turns away and he is free to sprint towards a freight elevator.

In the next area, in order to continue, he must activate a bridge using a console. Once successfully done, he can move forward while slowing down and crouching again to pass the enemy guards unnoticed. Although they are back turned, there is one patrolling Searchlight Camera Bot that can expose him. The camera could have been spotted also in the flyover in the beginning of the video. So obviously, going right instead of left from the freight elevator was a bad idea, since Wobo wanted to stay hidden. The Searchlight Camera Bot always spots Wobo (or any other robot, as well).

Wobo’s only option now is to run quickly away, otherwise more guards will try to surround and crush him. Luckily he is fast enough and after a few meters he will have left the Searchlight Camera Bot way behind. An escape would be a success but an enemy patrol is crossing his way. Wobo doesn’t outmaneuver him and the enemy is using a taser to fry Wobo.

No happy end for today. Next time, Wobo must pick a better route…

A major update today - new screenshots from new locations and reworded game description to better reflect current state of game! Enjoy in the original post above

I really like the environment! Nice job

Thanks, we are glad you like it!

Game looks really good. It reminds me a lot of “Escape Plan” game on ps vita.
The animations look really smooth and well done. And the environment, background props and level design looks great too.
I’ll admit though, I don’t really find the character all that appealing but thats just me. Overall game looks really well done and fun.

Good job

Hi and thanks for a positive feedback! Characters - a good point, we will definitive work on enhancing them!

That was a fun trailer, videos are almost always better than screenshots.

As for the characters, the enemies may be a bit simple, but I’m a big fan of the proportions of the main character.

Hi ZASkaggs! You are right, videos are always much better and show more from a game. Which reminded me I haven’t attached the second trailer, but you can see it also on our YouTube channel.

Main character got a ‘face lift’ lately and we keep improving all characters - adding details, changing parts, etc. Thanks for a constructive feedback!

We have a short development update for past few weeks - since December and January. In short, we go according to a plan. Several new features were added (Google Play Services integration, GUI, Press Kit), not mentioning new levels are being build, played, polished and remade

Also, we’ll soon start a full testing!
