The Hub is not permitted to create a project..

  1. Install Unity Hub for Windows.
  2. Login
  3. New Project
  4. Choose any template
  5. Try to create it

There is a message below the file loc that says “The Hub is not permitted to create a project here. Please choose another location.”

I have tried the following to fix:

  1. Uninstalled.
  2. Reinstalled
  3. Rebooted
  4. Returned free personal license and got a new one.
  5. Ran as administrator
  6. Tried to save to a different file location on a different drive
  7. I danced.

None of these things worked!

I did install Unity maybe a year ago and uninstalled it. I don’t know if there is some residual schnizzle still buried in a directory somewhere that may be causing issues. I did uninstall and reinstall, but that doesn’t mean it got everything.

I solved my own problem.

I uninstalled again. I then went to C:\Users*username*\AppData\Roaming.

There were three folders there: Unity, UnityHub, and Unity Hub. I deleted all three and reinstalled.

Everything works.
