I’m closing in on a 300 projects. It’s getting hard to find older ones with stuff I implemented there or assets I used there. This could super easily be solved by the Hub:
add support for tags
add support for screenshots
It’s really not that hard to implement, actually super easy and would enhance the functionality of the Hub considerably
Additional enhancement:
would be awesome if packages I installed in a project could auto-register in the Hub. Could be used for the search as well.
I’d really like to be able to group my projects! Like package development, production, testing, prototyping, etc.
Also I’d like a “scan for projects” feature by specifying a root directory or drive. It’s super stupid that the Hub will just remove any project that’s on a drive that’s currently unavailable. Every time Windows on a whim decides not to mount my virtual drive upon booting I lose all my projects in the Hub.
Oh right, I also have Testing, Training, Project, Publisher folders and for each the Render Pipeline. Just for categorization. Could be easily classified by the Hub. Automatically.
I created my own launcher in just a few days. It’s open-source and free. While it doesn’t have the ability to install editors or create new projects, it helps you organize multiple projects with images and tags. GitHub - sorcerb/unity-runway
I’ve always found it strange how large projects and companies sometimes take years to implement simple features…
