The Latest update to itunes

The latest update to itunes will stop any other phone other than the iphone or ipod touch transferring apps.

This means wayyy less business for app developers.

Phones like the latest LG chocolate will now no longer be able to run the apps.

Does anyone else thing that’s a bit unfair, not only from the customer who buys the phone’s point of view but also from a developer point of view?

Also, rumor has it that halt of music transfer will also take effect.

What are you talking about? iPhone apps only run on iPhones and iPod touches anyway.

as found by several friends of mine as well as some people online, they do work on other phones that support the same motion sensor, … until recently

Apple does not care about you developers and your silly profits.

Thats what I’m trying to get out here,
Developers are only making money for apple, and alot less for themselves, the mount of money apple makes off and app is considerably more than its developers…

furthermore, this new plan to boycott other phones from using the software is only harming the app developers, and their reputation to others.

I’m a big fan of apple, I use the latest iMac, bu, if Microsoft did the same thing with its software, apple would have a harder climb to popularity than it has now, what with MSN or Word processing.

I’m not suggesting anything rash here, but maybe a petition online to correct this halt of file transfer would be useful, not only to myself, and others with other phones, but all app developers.

BS. iPhone apps only run on OS X and need specific hardware aside from the accelerometer (multi-touch, ARM CPU, 320x480 screen) to work. If there are any other phones out there that would be suitable from a hardware perspective, they don’t run OS X and would have to be hacked to do so, and the number of people who would do this is small. The notion that “this means wayyy less business for app developers” is absurd. My sales have, in fact, gone up recently.

Apple makes little money off the app store. It’s primarily there to sell iPhone/iPod touch hardware, which is where the real profits are. So they have no incentive, and in fact a big disincentive, to allow other devices to run iPhone apps.

Renz, you are mistaken. The fix breaks the Palm Pre’s ability to sync music with iTunes.

Um, well, iTunes with iPhone is for iPhone and Apple stuff, if you want Palm and other devices to have music, get the music from a vendor like Verizon, Motorola, etc. Yes and you will find out that when you buy from them, guess what, your music will only work on their devices isn’t that fair? How about the T-Mobile games, guess what, they only work on T-Mobile, why are you not complaining here about that? Complain about every other manufacturer only letting their apps run on their machines first before complaining about Apple doing this to the Music. As far as apple apps working on other phones, um, no, never has, never will. I have no clue where you get your information but it is wrong.

The only applications that are some what cross phone is the ones for the CE software or Windows Mobile, and that is only on Windows, is that fair? I mean, why not let Windows Mobile apps run on Apple? I guess that is a business disadvantage isn’t it.

What ever happened to competition and product designation? Guess life ain’t fair in a competitve market. I write phone apps and games on my Windows Vista using Visual Studio 2008 and Windows Mobile SDK, I guess since I also write Apple apps and games on my iMac I am simply not being fair to Microsoft, wait I am not being fair to Apple, wait… no I am not being fair to Orange.

Are you on drugs?

I for the record want this entire thread to be removed or locked, it offends me

I think this thread is elaborate spam for the LG Chocolate, actually…
