The most laid back, jazzy game trailer ever? Good trailers can sell you games.

Just came across this, I think it really shows the power of investing in a unique trailer to promote your games.

A traditional turn based strategy game, could have been a really dull trailer, following standard conventions. However this trailer is different, humorous, with a laid back, jazzy music track and smooth deep voice narration, along with the clean style of graphics in the game. It certainly made me sit up and take notice and will buy it once I’ve decided what platform I want.

Its funny that actually there aren’t that many really good game trailers. Very few try to do anything different to differentiate themselves. Off the top of my head a few of my favourites would be;

Blood Dragon - welcome to the eighties. Also really enjoyed the new live action trailer they made.

W40k - Dawn Of War. Probably one of the best trailers ever made, certainly at the time. Though like many others it doesn’t represent the game at all.

Dead Island. Such a powerful trailer, again nothing really to do with the game or gameplay, but it certainly got attention.

What was nice with the Leviathan: Warships is that is shows actual gameplay, so its not quite as fake as some of the other trailers I’ve mentioned.

It’s always good to see games and developers joking about themselves and making light of their products. One of my favorite trailers would have to be the strangelove-style Timeducks trailer.

Pretty humorous.

That trailer was genius! I just watched it 3 or 4 times :). As for my favorite trailer, I’d half to say Mass Effect’s TV spot:

By the way Leviathan Warships is a unity game.

I’m not even into naval combat, and I might pick this up, if you know what I mean… it’s digital, I… I can’t actually pick it up.

Very nice trailer! Nice to use humor over the action packed trailers that game companies usually go for. Cheers!

:open_mouth: Paradox uses Unity? Kewl.

Anyway, that trailer was hilarious.

I was really impressed with the far cry trailer, usually I dont even like first person shooters – not since goldeneye for the n64 but the it just went after my target demographic that I think I will pick it up.

Haha, I love this trailer!

I totally want this for android!

Paradox just publishes the game. Their internal development studio uses their own tech.

And what about this trailer?
