Sorry, 7 is harsh. 7 is more the number of those games I would actually play or buy.
There are probably about 4 or 5 games on that list I don’t think to be deserve on Steam. Mainly because I believe there are better games on Greenlight, or that they are the current flavour of the month and that is why they got in.
I wonder how many of these games had large fan bases prior to submission to Greenlight? I imagine that existing fan bases voting up games are the major determining factor in what gets Greenlit right now. I was hoping that Greenlight would be more of a discovery tool for indie games, but it doesn’t seem to be working that way.
Right now it’s a popularity contest.
But zombie and horror games and whatever is ‘in’ right now are the games getting the votes.
Many of those games are shooters as well… which I guess will always be a popular genre.
Although more genre diversity would be appreciated, otherwise the masses will always get the genres that appeal to the masses, and those interested in the lesser genres will look elsewhere.
