The Next Big Thing I'd like to see integrated into Unity!

Okay, I know this is probably a total pipe dream in the near term, but man would it be awesome to have this licensed for Unity! Just think what an advantage this would give Unity over its competitors. Okay, without further ado, I give you: www.geomerics.com

That’s right, real-time radiosity. Click their products link to see screenies and vids. Probably costs an arm and a leg.

Oh man, that would be just too cool.

…I want it too.

I have seen this page before and it looks impressive, but I haven’t been able to find out which existing games actually use this technology?

I too have marveled at their videos and tools… my (uninformed) guess is that it’s a little expensive to license. but then again unity shows that great tools don’t have to have a huge price-tag…

Also, they don’t seem like the kind of company which would at all be interested in licensing their tech to an engine developer. They’ll probably stick to their per-title license thing.

This looks great!

No problem, i got plenty of neighbours to spare… and a sharp axe… :stuck_out_tongue:

Realtime Radiosity would be great. But this has been demonstrated in the past so many times. In Half Life 2 for example. And as far as i know, Valve made their shader-systems or at least the steps and maths behind it public. I guess it wont be too long, until we see this feature here in the forum…

I would rather like to see something like this

That looks like it’s more geared toward lightmap baking though. I like the idea of completely dynamic real-time radiosity. You’d get basically the same results, only it’s completely changeable at runtime.

You’ve seen Yoggy’s real-time ambient occlusion and ray tracing demos, right?

I’ve talked with the guy at Lightsprint (another realtime radiosity middleware) he was very friendly and open and seemed to think that it would integrate well with Unity.

IIRC the new Mafia game is using his lighting system.
