I’ve been having an extremely huge problem with Unity3D the last month.
I have no idea how or when it started, but everytime I did something (just alt-tabbed for instance), I got the popup box “The open scene has been modified externally”, which happens EVERY TIME SOMETHING IS PRESSED.
So my first thought was to reinstall Unity - The problem still showed up.
Then I reinstalled OSX Mountain Lion - The first boot was fine, but after a restart, I’m back to a very slow Unity3D Application, that still opens the popup box, and is just extremely slow overall, as something seems to be processing in the background almost all the time (load times and freezes).
Do anyone of you have any idea what the problem could be?
I’ve attached a couple of pics of what my screen looks like.
I’ve tried multiple versions of the application.
The different versions have been an older 3.6 or something, which was a legit pro version (through work), and then 2x Pro Trial, which have been the latest update (Updated just before I formatted my machine, and downloaded it straight away when I had everything running).
There is nothing wrong. I usually get this when updating from the asset server or when opening an old project from Unity3.5 into Unity4. Its just saying the scene has been updated and do you want to reload the scene to accept the changes or ignore the changes.
Something may have gotten corrupted then. Close out of unity and navigate on your desktop to where you project is stored. There is usually a temp folder outside the asset folder that you could try deleting and then re-open unity.
Don’t necro-post. Your problem is not the same as the one faced by the rest of this thread from TEN YEARS AGO, regarding unknown causes of mysterious background activity. You know what activity happened since you did it. If you overwrote your scene file, it’s gone. If you forgot where you saved it, start searching.
