The quest of Bou - a 2D platform and puzzle game!

Hello everyone!

First of all, a short introduction to myself. I am Cerulean, a 26 year old french (which explains the mistakes I could make, but I will make my best ^^') graphic designer trying to work in the video games industry, my passion for many years. I am opening this topic in order to show you my current projet named:

The quest of Bou -the magical shield- is a 2D game project inspired by renowed titles such as Braid, Rayman or Limbo. Therefore it is a mixture between platform and puzzle games, all served in a 2D side scrolling package with thorough graphics.
You play as Bou, a small and chubby creature, and you will have to go to the rescue of your kidnapped friends! To fulfill this quest, a spirit gave you an orb containing a mysterious power: the shield orb. The numerous capabilities of the orb will help you to get through all the obstacles on your way! Are you ready to try this adventure?

You can already see the first official trailer for The quest of Bou - the magical shield-! In the video, you will get more details on the scenario, as well as some gameplay footage! Oh, and even if the trailer is in french, I did an english translation so don’t forget to activate the subtitles

Also the game is in production since a little while, thus you can see the prototype of the first level in this video too!

If you are interested in this project, I invite you to follow the news to come here, but also to join the Facebook official page for the game at: http://www.facebook.com/LaQueteDeBou
I am currently working on a development blog, which is empty for now, but you can save the link for later: http://thequestofbou.blogspot.fr/

And one last word, the game is actually competing in a contest organized by the Ganuta website. The winning proposal will be sponsored during 6 to 9 months by a professionnal from the game industry. If you want to give your support to Bou, do not hesitate to go to his page and vote for him: http://concours.ganuta.com/galerie/177/la-quete-de-bou-le-bouclier-magique

I thank you all for your attention, and I am available for all your questions and feedbacks! See you soon!

Love your art style

Très beau! J’aime beaucoup le style “à la main”. Je te souhaite la meilleure des chance et j’ai hâte de voir le résultat final.

Translation:
Real pretty! I love the “hand-drawn” style. I wish you the best of luck and can’t wait to see the finished product.

Merci bien! ^^

Thanks! ^^

Ah oui c’est franchement chouette et très bien réalisé! chapeau bas et bonne continuation!
Juste un peu surpris par le contre-principe de mouvements des calques lors des toutes première image du trailer (lorsqu’on découvre le village), mais… pourquoi pas…

Really nice work!

Ogier

Merci Ogier!

Fot those who are interested, I had an interview about the project with the website jeuxcollector.fr. You can find some informations about the game development on some topics like my inspirations, graphics, music… Actually the interview is in french, I will work on translating it in english next week. But if you are not reluctant with french, you can find the interview at http://www.jeuxcollector.fr/accueil/656-exclu-interview-de-jerome-bourgeois-createur-du-jeu-la-quete-de-bou. There is a 25 minutes vidéo and a transcription in a .pdf format, which I made myself.

Also, don’t hesitate to ask your questions here if you have some!

(take this as a compliment) Although this is not the best looking or performing Unity3D game…this has a VERY high chance of making it big in both the xbla/psn/ns (the wii U shop)/ouya/ and on the PC and App Store. I utterly love the art style and feel this could be like…Kirby X Braid
