"The rebel" game is now taken over by new developers - pls. direct all questions/comments at them

They’ve posted announcement…would mind answering questions about my experience with the game while I was holder of it…

From the comments:

Good luck with that.

^ I’m very skeptical too, but hey it’s their choice! I don’t get why would they take the game and “start from scratch”. Any ideas?

Anyway, the guy did his part of our contract but it’s already taking TOO long, which I tried to explain that my goal was to get rid off the game, handle the source code, passwords from Steam etc - which I did. Steam are also not helping by giving reasons to delay the transition.

I think they’re beginners/wannabes who want to make it big as a either software development company or game development studio, possibly aiming at status of someone who gets contracted for getting stuff done (for example, Obsidian).

The name of “clockwork game software” is associated with a single youtube video depicting skyrim character and one *.apk file called “Crazy Geometry Jump”. There’s no site, no contact information, nothing.

One plausible turn of events is that they may try switching the game to Unreal 4 (chasing superior visuals), and then fail to finish the project.

That may or may not be overly pessimistic.

Don’t want to sound like a jerk and judge them…but if I’m to be honest they’re very young guys (21 at best…) with supposedly still novice software development skills and hopes that “once you’re on Steam - you’d be millionaire”. Then again, I hope I’m wrong because like I said: they did their part of our small contract…

I don’t regret it though. My biggest mistake was that I’m not a gamer and hardly ever was, so I never knew what others would want in a game. Interestingly the new owners may be the exact opposite: worse coders but better marketers.

Will see…for now the game is history for me and I’m happy about it.

Wait I recognise this game. It’s that terrible looking at the sky one that we harassed a while back. You are probably better off without it. Congrats on duping someone else into buying it off you.

As to the new devs, I imagine their main purpose in buying the game is to bypass the steam greenlight process. Indicates to me they have zero game dev ability, and are just trying to make a quick buck.

With any luck this whole thing will die.

I sorta thought it was handed over for free.

Probably won’t. I think the more likely scenario is that it will haunt Steam for quite some time.

The correct response should have been ‘this pond ain’t big enough for the both of us.’

Kudos to the OP for creating a brand new account in case no one remembered him/her… Oh wait.

Its also plausible that this game change hands between the first post and this one. Or that someone is palming off a generic prototype. I did a quick search to find the original thread, but didn’t come up with anything.

Locking thread as it’s some kind of school playground thing.
