The Slender Man Files

I’m glad to see this thread back up  I’m really interested in watching this game’s progress

My internet is acting up but from what I see in the video image the menu is pretty darn cool and well thought out. I really like the idea of it being on signs, nice touch. Would be AWESOME if there was wind, and the signs moved or jittered due to the wind vibration. It would really help sell the whole idea of instability.

Great that it’s back up! I was really dissapointed that it got locked, thought it was quite a nice project to follow. But yup, this might be a good lesson for everyone, or atleast for the people who’re planning to use Slenderman in their next project. Let everyone do what they want, we’re here to talk and give people feedback about their projects, not to start an argument about whether it’s an original idea or not, or if he has copied Slenderman or whatever. All of this escalated to a thread lock, that’s not what we want, right? Lets just stop the Slenderman arguing and start giving people some feedback instead of spamming their threads with worthless crap.

Again, love the project.

Another update on the manor front exterior.
(The stained glass is supposed to slightly represent slendy.)

Edit:

A photo of the house in scene (this is just a test scene, and is just a example of how it will look in game)
(Disregard the hand, torch and trees, they are irrelevant).

Looks nice!
Can you post wires and texture flats please?

Looks awesome from the outside, does it have an interior yet?

No interior yet.

You can’t be a paranormal investigator without having a trusty camera!

Nice easter egg on the camera

So will the goal of this game be taking pictures of evidence? Or is videos working into it somehow? Or will you do something special with the recorded video at the end?

Something… cliche (heh) like “The person who recorded this video was never found.”

I want a demo!

Looks good, I think the music was a bit full on for me, also that street didn’t look particularly German.

Look good, it seems to be a high quality of work than the other slender type projects. Keep up the work, Looking forward to see where this goes.

You’re a paranormal investigative journalist, so you’ll have a bunch of gadgets, including a Camera and an EMF reader. They will have very important functions. The camera for instance, will help you differentiate between what is an illusion, and what is reality. It will also allow you to zoom in and out, have night vision and see slendy when you normally cant :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
In the game, a predominate feature will be the mind puzzles, and the general disorientation and confusion that Slender Man brings from his mind-altering nature. For example, let’s say you walk down a corridor, only to find that the end is a dead end. You turn back around, but you now find out that the other end is a dead end as well. What do you do? You pull out your trusty camera, point it around, and you find that one of the walls isn’t real - that it’s just an illusion.

Infinite hallway’s and looping architecture, along with paradoxes will be a feature in this game, and a video will come out soon of it in demonstration!

If you donate, we may send you an early release

We are changing the music, because let’s be honest, and for lack of a better word… it’s shit.
Ahah yes, the streets aren’t very German, I only just realized that after making them :stuck_out_tongue:
It will be a little bit of a plot hole… but oh well :stuck_out_tongue: I may change them in the future.

Thank you! We will keep you posted

Edit:

Quick rough draft and floor plan for the manor.

Um…who would want to donate for a game that anyone barely even knows. I mean, you haven’t given us any gameplay. A webplayer would help. I see no harm in putting up a webplayer to test it out, you could ask for donations later when the game reaches a stage where it could be released. Plus, you’re not even giving people any assurance that they will even get an early release after donating. My point is, i’ve seen you asking for donations and stuff while the game is barely even playable yet, and you’re trying to get donations in any way possible. (Bold sentence in above quote.) You just keep mentioning donations. Focus on the game!

Btw, an idea for the little German touch. Put a german flag on top of the mansion, hehe.

When I said “Nice easter egg on the camera”, I meant the Afro on it :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways, I’m really looking forward to this.

Sorry, I completely understand your point. I too wouldn’t personally pledge anything to a project that I have hardly seen any content for. I will follow your advice  But I do assure you that content will be coming out soon. Hopefully within the next two weeks, a beta demo will be released, showing of the intro sequence, the main menu, and the first part of the game. It will show of basic features of the manor’s interior and exterior, as well as an idea of how the atmosphere of the game will feel. A big feature of the game will be the mind-boggling nature of the house, and it’s tendency to cause paradoxes! It will be very interesting gameplay, and I can’t wait to get it out to you guys. You’ll love it!

The demo will be built for both Windows and OSX, and a web-version will be made too (but I recommend the redistributable version because it will look nicer :stuck_out_tongue:

And thanks for the suggestion! I might do that

This is going really well! I cant wait to play the demo when it appears!
Hopefully is as scary as the other, great models by the way! Are you alone on this project?

Afro Interactive currently has a staff of the following:

Obviously not all of them are directly associated with the game.

Smashing team you got there, waiting for updates soon!
Ps:Is the whole action gonna be in this manor or there will be other maps too?

Is it possible to post some wireframe views and Texture flats for artists who are learning?
The assets look incredible, hence me requesting

Very interested in the tri count and what maps you used
