Why don’t people quit dicking around making a big scene over eula threads, consoles and so on, and just finish their games instead of constantly trolling with no actual finished work?
Just a thought.
Peace.

Because the majority of them are worried about what they can’t do (and probably would of never have) instead of what they can.
Well, it is the Gossip section. Isn’t that what it’s for?
We need a sub-forum called “Whiners”
I think on most forums that would be called, “Off-Topic”
Except it’s on-topic. Just annoying to have people whine about things they’ll most likely never do.
It’s always what they can’t do and not what they can do. Some people have a reason to be upset though.
Perhaps. But, wouldn’t this thread belong in such a sub-forum?
Yes, this is a whining thread about whiners. The irony.
Because we like to discuss what is happening?
Why wouldn’t we discuss the Ouya? there could be reasons not to develop for it and reasons to, I like getting advice from these kind of threads and IMO it helps in the way of game design to here what others have to say. see what people dislike and what people like.
What if no one said anything about Unitys EULA and then I made a gambling game and had to take it down cause I need some fancy license.
Hippo you can just skip these threads, no one is demanding you post in it, this thread is a bigger waist of space in my opinion. May I ask why you are a member of the Unity forums and have 7.5k posts when you don’t like internet talk, preferring to just work on your game ![]()
To make a gambling game you need to go through a lot of steps to get a license. Which requires a “ton” of money. Anyone doing this will first go through the EULA top to bottom. Also, it requires source licenses because the government(most likely) will require to see every single line of code for legitimate reasons before your application is approved.
@Tyler
I’ve done 2 games this year so far, Film Creatives Runner and another client project. Last year I did physynth as a warm up for unity. The years before I did budget games. I’m soon going to release TOB and yet more games in the year to come. I am always productive. 7.5k posts is nothing when you’re shifting out 2-3 games a year.
So, what productivity are you up to? OH I KNOW! talking bollocks with nothing to show for it ![]()
This thread is ideally to encourage people to actually do something instead of just talking.
In an ideal world. Which we are not in.
Well, I agree that making a big fuss is annoying, but talking about the EULA is not, if it helps clear things up. I actually don’t care about it, nor did participate in the thread (as far as I remember), but knowledge is important. Thanks to the big fuss, those changes were brought to general attention instead than staying partially hidden, which is good.
Ehe, hippo, please take a decision. Either the number of posts on a forum have nothing to do with the amount of work one produces, as you just wrote, or the contrary, as you just wrote ![]()
Though I do agree with Rob, a few of these threads are serious discussions. There will always be somebody complaining, but a lot of people often are discussing. I often enjoy reading these threads, not only because of schadenfreude from whiney posters being berated, but also because I learn from the discussions. I do agree that the threads specifically for whining and the whiners themselves should stop, but not the threads that are meant only to spark discussions.
I agree also, but the volume of people repeatedly posting in the same threads without any form of merit or anything just seems to me like people want to turn the unity forums into a trolling ground of internet superstars. There’s limits and while the suggested threads did have merits, the same names constantly pop up over and over just arguing for the sake of it. I’d like these people to invest their time better.
I’m not trying to restrict anyone’s freedom of speech but they could just make games, which is what we’re (also) here for apparently? Maybe I’m old, but I get impressed and listen to people who make some form of game or asset… shows they are not all mouth.
I’ve said my bit so I’m done with this thread… and it’s xmas so happy xmas from the forum scrooge.
Who cares let them do what they want. I for one enjoy reading all the stupid threads.
“Complaining does not work as a strategy. We all have finite time and energy. Any time we spend whining is unlikely to help us achieve our goals. And it won’t make us happier.”
― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture
I don’t get why people on these forums are whining about the EULA either. It’s the Unity Team’s engine and they can do what they want with it. But unfortunately trolls will be trolls and whiners will still continue to whine.
True… thankfully I have one of these ![]()
But you are a far more experienced dev then me so honestly it is not much to be pumping out more games then I do, You have the skill to make a good game were as I’m lacking you are limited only to your imagination i’m limited by my coding… not to mention it is actually your job to make games were I go to school…
Anyway I spend so much time using Unity it is not funny, sure I could put out tonnes of games but they would be crap… I prefer just to push myself to the limits which is not a good way to make games like how am I meant to know what I can do, and none of the games I make IMO are worthy of my name, but just exploring ideas I think is more fun… like right now I’m interested in making circuits in Unity Link(note that the base of it was taken from someone else’s code(but it is now very very different)) I do lots of stuff like that, I just don’t show it to the world… don’t say i’m not productive, how would you know? I spend every waking hour even when I sleep becoming a better game designer, I make tonnes of mistakes on the way… I probably chuck out to many games but still I don’t care about finishing a crappy game. but I think one day ill make a fabulous game… the best game! I was actually going to start on half my master piece but then I saw those circuits and started expanding that so my game will have to wait for a little while longer.
Have you spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on licenses?
No, but people aren’t going to get very far by posting a thread and whining"I had to pay for a license to allow gambling in my game boo hoo". You know if you care that much go to feedback and ask the Unity Team to do something about it. Which is what a popular thread about the EULA having new stuff in it did and the Unity Team is working on it.
