I opened up Unity today and it was a mess. The shadows were terrble, i can see colors in the edges of the shadow. A script that i had in the camera that is about movement is messed up. I don’t know what they did to Unity but they just ruined my project. Any help how i can fix the shadows at least ?
Nothing ruined here? in either of my stuff. They don’t have access to your pc or unity installation. If you updated from 3.x to 4.x then yeah you’d need to convert your project.
But other than that, perhaps something in the project folder got deleted?
If your shadows are baked from Beast, then someone messed up with the scene.
Ok too bad i don’t have pictures from before but i will upload some from the current. I opened up Unity and it said something about update. I didn’t update it yet but it’s already messed up. I had the Ambient light at 5 and it was really dark you could barely see now it’s at 5 and you can see like its day. They ruined it with their stupid updates. How am i supposed to fix it now ?
Also i just checked that some objects that had rendered and i had normal maps on them are gone. They better start fixing this or start making a new one because i’v wasted too much time on that…
According to you "Ok too bad i don’t have pictures from before but i will upload some from the current. I opened up Unity and it said something about update. I didn’t update it yet but it’s already messed up. I had the Ambient light at 5 and it was really dark you could barely see now it’s at 5 and you can see like its day. So let me understand this. Your project was fine. Unity has an update which you ignored so it made the pop up go away. After that your whole project is jacked up. And this is all due to Unity and their pop up update box?
You have got to be kidding me.
You didn’t up date so everything was the same as it was before. Did you try a backup of the project? Did you not save it before you closed Unity?
I highly doubt that Unity messed up your project with a pop up box for an update.
No you don’t get it. Let me explain to you. 2 days ago my project was fine. I opened it today and saw the project different + there was an update. No one else uses my pc and if they would they don’t know how to use Unity, so whose done it me ? Last thing i edited in Unity was duplicate an object i didn’t mess up with any of the settings. The shadows are just terrible and i can’t get it like it was before unless i make a new project but i’m not making this again so i need to fix the current one.
Ok that’s creepy. I just restarted my pc and its ok now. I don’t what is going on but the shadows were really bad and now are just like before. I’m sorry for that maybe it’s my pc after all. Weird because my graphic card is good enough…
Maybe you ran something else which messed up the graphics card. It happens.
Glad it is working right for you now.
Yes me too. Thank you for the help though. It funny because even the pictures the shadows were bad and if i open them now they are fine. There is definately something wrong with my pc or my monitor.
Occasionally this happens with importing assets, updates, or runtime GameObject setting adjustments.
I make Project backups in case something goes wrong, Often daily!. Nobody likes to loose hours or days of work.
nothing is wrong with the pc or monitor IMHO
Glad to see your problem solved.
For the past 10 days or so I’ve been getting a lot of yellow and red alerts on stuff that’s been working just fine forever. When it happens, I either save everything and restart Unity (most of the time), or I just restart the PC, and at next Unity launch everything is back to normal. I’ve only been using Unity hardcore for a few months now, but I’ve learned since that sometimes it behaves strangely and that often, the best thing to do when it does (and has no reason to because I didn’t change anything to the project) is just to ignore it and restart.
