Game Development of THROW FLOW started at Crazy Web Game Jam 2024 which took place from November 1st to 8th.
Based on the Theme of Jam that called “Everything is a Remix”, people need New Game Mechanics based on several existing ones, so the target idea of the THROW FLOW will be the mix of the next games:

Result:
I completed the submission with 3 levels.
.
Well, I spent 7 days creating the third level, but last night I added 2 more game levels as basic difficulty levels with 1 and 2 Checkpoints appropriately.
Next, I updated the submission with basic optimization for web: disabling the shadows.
.
I did tests in Google Chrome on MacBook Air with M2 and on MacBook Pro 2017 with Intel chip. Intel machine shown that FPS sometimes drops slightly in fullscreen mode only, so disabling the shadows solved this issue.
Desktop Version (Level 1):
Mobile Version (Level 1) — I adapted it a few days ago:
Level 2 is a bit more difficult than Level 1. There are 2 Checkpoints you need to pass in the Chain to Feed the Hippo and Complete the Level. Desktop version:
Level 2 for Mobiles:
Level 3 is the hardest Level for now, even for me. It will be simplified slightly, but there will still be 3 checkpoints left. I plan to increase the difficulty with each new level. Desktop version:
In Level 3 for Mobiles the Player’s View is Limited in Portrait Orientation. Maybe I need to add Landscape Orientation as well?
I submitted the Game as a Desktop game only.
So, any comments are related to this platform.
All 3 Game Videos (3 Levels) of Throw Flow that I recorded on the Desktop platform were made with raw submission build without any enhancements
The game is interesting and has the potential to become something fun and challenging, especially considering its inspirations. I initially struggled to understand how to launch the fruit and how the game actually worked. It felt a bit frustrating that the fruit so easily followed the mouse pointer. Generally, the challenge in games like this comes from controlling the force applied (object speed) and direction, as players try to predict the object’s trajectory.
There weren’t many levels to play, and I believe that if the game continues to be developed, the first-person camera may limit the depth needed for the scene. Overall, though, it’s a solid game where skill plays a meaningful role, alongside an element of luck.
The art and audio are okay, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
Everything in the game is completely surreal (I don’t know if it was on purpose). The physics mechanics work well, but unfortunately there were a few times when I threw the fruit ball together with another and the score didn’t count."
The Main Goal of the Game is shown on the 1st Game Screen:
“Pass All the Checkpoints in One Throw.”
.
I believe that the Goal is also reflected in the Game Name: “Throw Flow”.
.
“I threw the fruit ball together with another and the score didn’t count.” — It’s expected behavior that was Reflected in the Goal of the Game. Possibly, I need to limit the ball count to 1…
There is a Manual on how to Play this Game before starting Each Level.
The manual is pretty short and covers all game mechanics.
.
There is no “luck” — This is Raw Unity Physics, which, with Player Breathing, adds some complexity to the game. And (and as a space to improve the game) Breathing can be disabled for a Level by watching rewarded Ads, for example.
Of course, I provided only 3 Levels — and not 20 Levels because for 7 Days I was developing Level 3, and Last Night I added 2 more levels for submission.
.
It’s strange to expect developers to present a finished and polished game in 7 days.
In the List of winners, I found a game called “Odd Fish”, which I couldn’t play at all and catch at least one fish (the difficulty was overwhelming). I saw the same experience from other players who left messages on the Discord about this game ![]()
The theme of the Jam was as speculative as possible: “Everything is a remix.” It was possible to make literally any game in any genre.
