just perusing reddit and saw this… looks pretty damn awesome
It’s been on the store for a few months already.
This. Is. Beautiful.
Great. I just reduced my wish list last month by one entry and now I have another to add.
Great inspiration for the Unity team re-doing the terrain tools!
wink wink nudge nudge
Nothing says game like… an empty forest.
How dare the demo scene not include a finished game! That’s almost worse than the lack of make MMORPG button in 5.4
well, if they would make sure their tools play nice with the king of the hill when it comes to terrain shaders for Unity, RTP, I might actually consider this.
Then again this sounds kinda redundand given we have Gaia that does similar functions (minus the shaders, but then there is RTP for Terrain, and at least Alloy has Foliage shaders, with the UBER ones apparently on the way(-ish, if some other project of the dev gets funded))…
It seems the TerrainComposer Dev is working on improving that product, so the market for auto placement tools for landscapes is actually pretty cluttered now, so given the high price of this in the asset store, I am not so sure it really is such a great new entry.
Of course, auto placement + new terrain shader + new foliage shaders = a pretty big outlay currently for Gaia (or TC) + RTP Shaders + Alloy (or UBER, when it brings speedtree shaders)… so even with the steep price of this product, given each component is good (cannot really judge from the images, they do a poor job in showing off the product features, they just show nice art assets), the USP might be bringing everything needed in one neat package, undercutting the cost of buying all components individually.
And of course, if they would have improved the foliage and grass rendering systems or replaced them with their own, and did a more complete job than speedtree, they might actually have another USP.
From what I read in the asset store, and the pictures, they did a fabulous job at creating a show case with great art assets, but mostly brought a redundand product to the store that competes in a pretty cluttered field.
WHAT??? I spent all night looking for that button!!
It’s the button Add Component in the inspector. You only need some kind of MMO component but the button is there.
Looks really nice, and natural.
