I am about to hire someone for creating a game like Paper Toss. I wanted to know how much time it would take to develop something like Paper Toss in Unity. Correct if I am wrong but from the information i have gathered so far, it appears it should be very simple to create this complete game and development time should not be more than 20 days at max.
Oh I’m sure somebody could make something like that in 20 days with a solid plan and good funding but quality of it might… vary. At least probably won’t make anybody rich, anyhow.
Edit: Okey, so it appears Paper Toss has moved quite a few units. Hmm. I might as well steal this idea.
Well it’s hard to say because there is a lot of other stuff you got 3d animated models, the 3d environments, the power ups, achievements etc. I don’t know why you want to clone it
The basic idea is simple enough for 20 days, depends on how many differently acting items and powerups you need and so on. From the video it seems like they have quite a lot, so implementing and testing those could be more time consuming.
Cloning a game is a lot quicker then actually developing it from scratch but I do not think it will sell, look at it paper toss it was released two years ago and I don’t think such a simple game especially considering its a clone will sell unless it was actually better then paper toss 2. I doubt any blogs will cover it, but I guess if you got money to burn why not
Sorry. I was trying to point out that even if he would find a person to do this he shouldn’t expect to receive anything good in 20 days. If even that. But yeah I wasn’t direct enough about it. Bad form.
I would disagree, but only partially. Your sentiment is totally on the money.
Technically, It is very doable, (mostly because there is an existing model and simple mechanic). However, the OP didn’t mention budget. Those capable of doing it, aren’t going to be cheap. And those capable of doing it really well, wouldn’t. (availability/interest).
Since it is knock-off, and the question is being posed in the first place, the budget probably isn’t huge, and they don’t have access to those type of folks.
Given that context, I would agree, the timeframe is way too optimistic and probably unreasonable.
