Here’s an early first look at my upcoming game, Tiny Diggers 2. It’s my first Unity game and a successor to Tiny Diggers 1 which was 2D and made with another SDK. Tiny Diggers 1 was an aged 2-5 educational truck game which, after over a year of being out is still doing well on the iPad/iPhone. Tiny Diggers 2 won’t be about learning about numbers, shapes and colours but will offer more more than the first one.
is there something off with the sound?
I hear you breathing and sniffling but not the sound of the game. (not that I mind but I would assume you wanted to have some sound for the game shown? ;))
I was so thrilled when you were looking for some 3d art for the successor of what seems to be a supercute game
At the moment I think the art is really letting the game down.
All the texture noise on the environment textures kinda make the vehicles disappear.
When looking at the tiny 2d games the textures were mostly soft gradients and only the gravel was seemingly phototextured which worked great.
I’m sure the awesome kids won’t care too much, I just feel like the 2d versions are much more polished than the 3d version stands at the moment. I think it could work better if you just took the 2d feel and applied it to the assets style. I totally understand what you were trying to do but the handpainted look works against the concept imo. I think for a kid’s game of that sort the clearer the environment the more they can focus on the rest
Ah, that sounds so sour
I love cute games like yours in general, just think that you could polish it a tinytad more to be at the same standard as the 2d games
Not sure what you mean by ‘texture noise’, it’s an early video on Youtube.
I’m glad you understand (I think) that it’s an early look at the game, given its in the ‘Work in Progress’ section. I’m only about 35% done so It’s not finished, therefore not polished like the 2D version which has been out for a while.
Hm, let me try to explain
The environment textures have many small details on it on pretty much every surface which kinda looks “noisy” in the bigger pixture while the vehicles and characters get only a flat colored texture and therefore get lost on the bugger picture, imo, which was not the case on the 2d version of the game
