TIps for noobie dev

Hey guys/gals. I recently downloaded the engine and started learning all the things i need to build a game and plan on making a fantasy game app for the app store, but i have a few questions.

  1. should i acquire funding or how to acquire funding?
im entering college shortly so i plan on making games to provide me some dev experience and potentially fun larger projects, but im slightly tight on cash due to my education since my college has high tuition. my idea is to have a kickstarter project for 500-1000 U.S. dollars to fund for assets and other expenses to produce the game. would this be a decent plan or have any other plan? i plan on developing the prototype portion of the game with free/ cheaper assets since i know 3d modeling programs tend to cost too much.

  2. would i need to declare my self as a business since i am developing a game/app for commercial use?

  3. is app developing a nice little gateway into larger projects or am i heading down the wrong path?

  4. do i need a license to release on P.C. and the App store (i know that there will be a royalty cut for apple and distributors)

thank you in advance

First learn, is my recommendation as a noob. I even come from a programming background. You would be lying to your funders that you can accomplish a game without knowing how to code.

When you can create a pong and a pac-man, then you have learned the beginner information. Can you create a pong-type of game or a pac-man type of game? If no, then put all thoughts of funding, app store and everything in the back of your mind while you focus on the principles of game-making.
