So a mate and me are working on this game. I´m not exactly sure yet what we´ll do with it at the end, we´d like to bring it out on the Wii but its not possible to become a Wiiware developer with what counts as a home office,
we´d like to bring it to the 360,too, but unless unity has a 360 deploy option it would probably mean we have to redo it in XNA. I thought of submitting it to the Unity contest but now i have to do some client work for a while to get some propper funds in for the rest of the development phase.
Well, let´s see
For now you can look at some screenshots
I´m glad you like the look
And yup, the characters are quite unique, you should see some of the others
And yeah, its meanwhile at a playable stage, i haven´t posted a playable demo though cause it doesn´t even feature 10% of what i actually want to have in there yet
That’s looking fantastic so far. The scene lighting doesn’t look finished, but the effects and lighting on the models is looking very professional already. Can’t wait to see more.
thanks for the cheers jashan
I´m pushing for it, will work on it as long as possible
( = till the money i saved up from client work is all gone thanks to monthly living costs of the team, then i have to get back to client work again for a while ).
to Tim: The character has 15.1 k tris, the well 13.7 k right now, i´ll change that later on if needed.
this looks awesome (seems like my kind of game too ; )
i love the lighting actually - soft smooth but with nice heavy contrast when the weapons are firing - i imagine it gives a good visceral feel in action. can’t wait to try this out.
Holy balls…15k for the piggy? Care to share some wires? I think a character like that could easily get down to 5k without any noticable visual change. At the very least, you could use those polys to improve the silhouette.
I’m really feeling the visual style of this – it looks like you’ve made some interesting artistic decisions. I would love to see some animations. Hopefully you find the time to get this in before the deadline, because I think it looks like it has the potential to be a lot of fun.
I would worry that the game is starting to push system requirements high based on the poly conversation earlier, but you know what the scenes entail and are a better judge of performance than any of us can be while looking at stills.
to drJones:
cheers, i´m glad you like it so far
And yeah, i chose it for heavy contrast, that said there will be various other settings which look and feel quite different
(hope still nice in their own way )
to torncanvas:
You´re right, its a lot
We aren´t sure about where/in which form the game will be released at the end so our focus for now is purely
to make a small good looking and fun to play initial version.
But yup, here´s a screenshot:
to Charles:
Haha, nice, when you say we made some interesting artistic choices, because we´re going pretty crazy with some other later things compared to these screens
Either people will love that or hate it, let´s see
Regarding the performance once we know where/how we can release it we´ll
optimize things for performance more :).
Regarding the other things Charles said we meanwhile had a chat offboard, to sum it up
i´d love to enter the contest but i´m not sure yet if we can, i´d rather work on it some more than enter something i´m not happy with.
I´ll post animated or playable demos once i can though
I also tried some entries for the contest and there´s some great stuff there no matter if we enter or not so that´s cool
I love it all especailly the pig. the pig model is awesome. But why do you make the RPG a big long blast of green plasma or whatever it is? Am I right in saying that RPG stands for Rocket Propelled Grenade?
to torncanvas: thanks and you´re right, we´ll have some tweaking time once we´re happy with the gameplay of the demo to make sure it also runs nice on older boxes
to boomaster: i´m glad you like the pig, hes one of my most favorite characters so far, too
And you´re right, the RPG label there is off, actually all weapon names in the screenshots are wrong, i had just started working on that part back then so it was a placeholder
