Afraid I have to go back to 2.6.1… on the mac, the control key has replaced the command key (in some places but not others; zoom works some times; doesn’t other times; I have to toggle thru play/pause/quit playing to get most controls to work; crash loading an audio file; terrain paint tools don’t paint on the scene unless I randomly bash around and then eventually they work.
Yes, I know it’s beta. But installing it -did- replace my previous version, which was running just fine. This version has a long way to go, IMHO. (3.0.b3). Mac 10.6.4.
just my two cents as I begin my project over again in 2.6…
Yeah, it’s beta
None of the control keys have changed since 2.6, there are some new ones, but navigation in the scene view is exactly the same besides some additions:
- Q/E controls up/down in fly-through mode.
- middle-mouse pa without holding down the alt/option key.
If you do indeed need to re-install 2.6 then simply rename the Unity folder in the “Applications” folder (mac) or “C:\Program Files\Unity” on Windows.
Someone just clued me in that indeed some keys have been switched. Command and Control have been intentionally switched for move and zoom. I never noticed this since I always use a 3 button mouse with Unity and never explicitly switch to that tool.
I was having major problems using the editor when they changed the way you used to zoom out to the rotating but I found a better way.
If you select on a 2 or more objects it will go to the midpoint between them, so this works quite good for.
I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding or not, but I REALLY hope the default navigation remains unchanged by the time 3.0 is released. Having the navigation in sync with the standard navigation in 3d modeling apps is one of those detail gems that helps make Unity so intuitive. Navigating the 3d view was the first thing I tried in Unity, and it put a smile on my face right away when it worked just as I was used to. Please don’t change this.
