Toon shader on character prefab

If I have 3 meshes in my character prefab and I apply outline lighted toon shader to it, will the shader be outlining the entire character or the meshes individually?

Also suppose I set one of the meshes as a cloth, can I set the polygons/vertices the cloth can tear off from?

ok I was able to figure out the first part. Now can anyone help me with the cloth info? Or atleast post a link for a good tutorial please.
