Toon Shading- Can this image be replicated in Unity?

Hi all-

Looking for a way to replicate this shading (just the outlines) in Unity. I intend to shade/lightmap the meshes in Max, then use a Toon shader in Unity to get the nice edges effect.

Is there a way to get it looking as nice as this in Unity? All I can get is a fairly ugly hash-lined toon effect, not these nice, crisp lines…

Thanks!

I know this is a rather vague post, and sorry for that- but any help would really be appreciated.

Looking through the forum, i found this:

Looks like Ulognep had a good shader working, but he never appeared in that thread again :frowning:

Just looking to recreate that clean, solid lined look!

Have rounded edges on your objects.
If not the lines will “break” up.

Thanks Wox!

Hmm, ironic- I was going to use the Cartoony effect to hide relatively low-poly work, now it seems to get a proper cartoon effect, I need more polys!

Big bummer. Guess I’ll go add chamfer some edges?..:stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, when you toon shade, its all about your silhouette, and if it has geometric aliasing, it’s very noticeable

(very late reply)-

Thanks again, I’ll be re-working the look then.
Currently looks like this:

Not too shabby! :stuck_out_tongue:

looks good
