Top 5. All Time. Desert Island.

I just mentioned this in another thread and I thought… Why Not?!

I love Top 5 lists - I’m a big High Fidelity fan

I’d like to know what everyones Top 5, All Time, Desert Island games are. If you had to pick your 5 favorite games of all the games you’ve played, what would they be? There doesn’t have to be any justification for your choices other than the fact that you love them.

I’d go with:

ICO (PS2)
Dungeon Master (Amiga)
Borderlands (PS3)
Resident Evil 4 (GC)
Final Fantasy VII (PS1)

Hmm… today I’d probably go with something like this:

Tie Fighter
Rez
Super Mario Bros. 3
Ultimate Doom
Super Street Fighter 4

Are we alone on the island?

Does the island have internet connectivity?

Is the island equipped with enough nutrition to sustain as much vigorous exercise as we desire, or will that make us die faster from starvation?

This is something of a magical island where there is everything that one might require to spend the rest of their life playing video games.

Okay. So I’m assuming then that I have buddies of choice at hand, and that they have their own ways of passing time when we’re not playing together. In that case…

Beyond Good and Evil
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Resident Evil 5
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I was going to put a Dance Dance Revolution on there, but there isn’t one particular collected mix that is good enough to make it. 3rdMix comes pretty close, though…

old geezer here, Apple IIc 80s smashes in my list

1- The Bard’s Tale III
2- Rygar (coin up)
3- Arkanoid
4- 5th Eskadra
5- Out Run

rockman x 4
gears of war
COD 4
devil may cry 3
BALDR SKY

My list would be somewhat short.

  1. The Witcher.

Amazing part about this game, it actually better the the book, and IMHO best game ever produced. I tried to read the book before game was published, and after I completed the game - but both time could not finish the book. And I love reading. Anyhow, an amazing game.

And I have played plenty of games, but for one reason or another I don’t feel like including any of them here. May be only another would be World of Warcraft - I did spent 2 years playing it, raiding twice a week every week…

It’s really tough to make a list of only five but here it goes:

Top 5:

  • Vigilante 8 (N64)
  • Advance Wars (GBA)
  • Mega Man 6 (NES)
  • Burnout 2: Point of Impact (GCN [stands for Nintendo Gamecube for the non-nintendo fan boys ;)])
  • Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (GCN [on a promotional disc from Nintendo power, I never owned it on the N64])

And because I want to make note of the other games that are also some of my favorites here are some runners up to the main list!

Runners up/other notable favorites:

  • Metal Arms: Glitch In The System (GCN)
  • Time Splitters 2 (GCN)
  • Beetle Adventure Racing (N64)
  • Pokemon: Yellow Version (GB)
  • Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES)
  • Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
  • Soul Calibur II (GCN)

I got that disc as a bonus for pre-ordering The Wind Waker. I had to take it back the next day, though, because I hated The Wind Waker and returned it for a full refund. :rage:

(I actually ended up playing through The Wind Waker later, over a summer vacation, because I was having severe game withdrawal, and so many people said that they liked it. So I figured I’d give it a second chance, and picked it up used, but I had to stay inebriated in order to finish it. :p)

That’s cheating!

I hear a lot of people mention that game. I’m definitely gonna pick it up and see what it’s all about. I think they have it on GOG.

I hate playing on a computer, but I’ll be buying it again when it gets updated for some console.

I have that bonus disc from the wind waker with Ocarina of Time/Majors Mask/and both NES LOZ’s. I also have another promotional disc from Nintendo power for signing up for a year that got me a disc with Ocarina of TIme and Ocarina of Time Master Quest. Master Quest is OOT but the dungeons are much harder and redesigned. It was released in Japan back on the N64 and finally saw US shores with that promotion.

Also, Wind Waker wasn’t bad, I enjoyed it except I had the strategy guide with it as well(another pre-order gift!) I know it would have gotten boring fast searching for those 8 tri-force shards in the ocean without it. I can’t imagine how anyone did that without the guide. That would have been a HUGE time sink.

Vagrant Story
Left 4 Dead
Resident Evil 4
Silent Hill 2
Einhander

Ooo… Vagrant Story. Yeah that one was good. Been thinking about picking that up off PSN to play again.

hmmmm, I think I would say:

top 5
Legend of Zelda: Link to the past
Super mario galaxy 2
Super Metroid
Super smash bros: Brawl
Red steel 2

Honorable mentions:
Legend of Zelda: wind waker
Megaman 2
Megaman 3
Yoshis island
Ductales
Kid Icarus

I’m feeling kinda nintendo today

  1. Jumpman (Atari 8-bit)
  2. Super Street Fighter 4 (X360) - IF I have a stick. If not, Super Street Fighter (Arcade).
  3. Darksiders (X360)
  4. Need for Speed Most Wanted (X360) - Would be Burnout Revenge (X360), except I’m assuming I have no net connection, otherwise I’d be rescued from the deserted island.
  5. Rocket Knight Adventures (Genesis)
  1. Oblivion with a connection to Tes Nexus for the mods (alone on island, Hello! Need the eye candy mods)
  2. FIFA 10 (with online, smashing young punks)
  3. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (if I could go back in time before the cheaters - same goes for Modern Warfare 2)
  4. Age of Wonders (making new maps that are huuuuge)
  5. WOW (sorry guys but if you are stuck on an island this has the most replayability)

if there is no hope to leave the island:

  1. Russian roulette
  1. DDR 3rd mix
  2. Doom II
  3. Halo
  4. God of War trilogy
  5. Kingdom Hearts

Since this is a magical island I will assume Jessy (and our cat) will be there to shoot things with because I said so. This is my list of games I am guessing he would not pick but would play with me/swap for.
