So I was getting bored and I thought “I’m gonna buy a video game ”, but then I remembered, “Wait a minute:eyes:…I’m a developer, I don’t need to buy games…I can make my own! Great! What kind of game? Well, I like Mass Effect and… Diablo… maybe I can combine the two:). And since I’m doing this, what are some things I didn’t like about those two? Maybe I can learn from their mistakes and do a better game. The AI in Mass Effect was kind of weak, It was easy to beat the enemy even on high difficulty. And Diablo didn’t even have an AI. The enemies just walked towards you and attacked. That’s not much of an AI, right? OK then. I’m gonna do a topdown with guns and good AI. And then I’m gonna play it:smile:”.
Took me about a day or two and after that, I showed it to some friends and they all think it’s too hard.
I’m curious what you guys think. Don’t mind the graphics, I don’t care about that now, just the game mechanics and AI. Can you beat it? Is it any fun? Any suggestions are welcomed.
Also can you guess where I took the models and animations from ?
I tried it out, and it’s a bit difficult. i think one of the main things causing this is that you can only shoot while aiming, thus allowing less mobility, which leads to death because you can’t maneuver out of the way to avoid being shot.
I assure you, the move speed is not modified when you’re getting fired at The only thing that comes to mind…since there are some fx when you or the enemy is shooting, maybe the fps drops a bit ? I have a macbook mid 2009, dual core 2.53GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB and it’s working just fine
BUT, you can double tap on one of the move keys to roll out of the danger zone
One more thing about the AI: it cannot “see” through walls, it does not cheat like that. It just remembers the last position it saw you at, and starts investigating there. It’s completely predictable.
Hmm, I thought you moved slower. It wasn’t the FPS either, as I was running a solid 60; I don’t know but I still felt like I couldn’t really move out of the way as well when aiming. It might just be me lol.

just use WASD the same way you would when walking
