Torment: Tales of...

Has anyone played it? Or monitored its development, perhaps?

Basically, I see a lot of upset people in the steam reviews. People complain about cut content, developers abandoning kickstarter promises, etc. Some accuse devs of deliberately abandoning some promises in order to make it possible to port the game to consoles.

I havent been following the entire time, just read all the same things you did.
Cut content only bothers people who were involved in paying early and just cant be happy its released.

I just finished Shadowrun DragonFall and the volume of text there was at or just over my limit.
I liked the game a lot.

From what I’ve read Torment is mostly text, so I think I’ll skip it and wait for the next Divinity game.

I’ve been playing it. I’m up to 119 minutes and trying to decide if I want to get a refund and wait for it to come on sale. It just didn’t grab me the same way Planescape did. But it sort of fell victim to the myriad of other isometric RPGs that have come out recently such as PoE and Tyranny. Even Wasteland 2 and Divinity:OS. Oh, and that one DnD one. I’ve played so many of them recently, I’m just a bit burnt out on them.
