Good day all,
we are going to develop a game for a museum. It will be played on a touchscreen monitor. Now I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or insights to share about the design of gamecontrols in a situation like this.
The game is a first person kind of thing. The player can walk through a couple of rooms, he can shoot and there is some talk going on. With the standard controls (keyboard) a player can walk through a room and look around at the same time. On a touchscreen this is not possible.
Best I can think of is to have some kind of menu where the player chooses like ‘walk’, ‘look around’, ‘shoot’, and use ‘clicks’ anywhere on the screen to actually walk, look around or shoot. If the player uses both hands, one to click on the menu, the other to click on the screen, this could work OK, I presume.
But perhaps there are other options that I haven’t thought of? Please share your opinions…
Thanks,
Henk
