Track current position in a variable

I want to keep track of the current position of an object in a variable, now i had this code for that: var currentPosition = transform.TransformPoint(Vector3); But it seems that won't do the trick.. anyone got any idea how to fix/do this?

It would be

currentPosition = transform.TransformPoint(Vector3.zero);

because that means "this transform's origin, in world space". But there's no point in doing that, because that's what transform.position is. For any other point, TransformPoint might be useful, because it takes scale into account, but Vector3.zero, however you scale it, is Vector3.zero.
