track names in timeline editor

I’d really like to be able to see track names in the timeline editor.

This would help me differentiate between tracks that have similar bindings, but different objects they are controlling.

If you select the track you can see the track name at the top of the inspector. You can also see the track name (in place of the track binding) if you select the asset, and not the playable director.

Hmm, yes I’m aware you can see them in the inspector and when you select the asset, but when I’m actually animating (in other words, when the director is selected) I want to see the track names. This is actually the only time I want to see them.

Thanks for the feedback.
We are aware of the problem and are looking into ways of showing both binding and track name information on the track headers so they’re easier to manage.

Any news about this?

Bump

Any update on this?

Not track names I know, but you can put your own icons on custom track types

No, still no updates.

We tried a prototype about a year and a half ago, and it made a mess of the UI, which was extremely hard to fix due to the nature of IMGUI.

We’re currently rewriting the Timeline Window in UI Toolkit, which should make it much easier to make this work in the future.
