Trademarks and copyrighted stuff

Hello, first of all I don’t know if this is the right place to post this thread, so excuse me if it isn’t. Now, I am making a bomberman like game for Android, I still don’t know if it’ll cost anything or if it will be free with ads, anyway I don’t know if I’m allowed to do certain things, I think I can use player model that is close to the original bomberman (if I make it) or am I wrong? Also the powerups, bomberman has tons of power ups, some of them I would like to keep but also create new ones, is it legal to make a 3d object and put the same power up sprite used before on that object? I wanted the power ups to be actually 3d objects but then I don’t know if I can put the original sprites on it or if I have to make my own sprites slightly different.

I hope you can clarify this for me because I really don’t know if I’m allowed to do that, expecially if the game costs money, I think if it’s free it’s not that big of an issue, but at the same time I would put ads, so I should also get some profit out of it.

It is the same level issue of issue no matter if it is free or paid/ad supported. I would suggest your level of problems would be the same if paid or ad supported.

Take legal advice if you aren’t sure where the line is. Your descriptions are vague. Are you planning to basically make a bomberman clone to the point people might think it came from the original?

Yeah, I was going to make a character just like bomberman actually maybe I need to change the the characters and power up sprites, it’s going to be hard to get a new power up sprite in my opinnion, the originals are awesome
