Hi,
I was just wondering what the best method would be to allow an object to move along a path.
I was thinking the best way would be to use waypoints and have it follow those but I’m really unsure on how to implement this.
I looked at the fps example but found that a little complex.
Thanks very much,
I would say that the best method is the built-in animation tool which will be available for the iPhone in 3.0. But you can use it now in 2.6.1.
Thats a great idea.
The problem is that I only have 1.7 at the moment, is there another approach I could take in this case?
I personally would likely start by checking out iTween
you can also animate in 2.x and export a Package then re-import into Unity iPhone. Animation Events are supported in this method too though the structure for iPhone(Unity 1.x) is obsolete in 2.x - you can still access it with AnimationEvent class as opposed to some other data type - just disregard the warning.
You can use some waypoint, empty gameobject, connected one to each other, and use some script, found on the wiki, to nagivate between them.
Animation are not used to move object but to play animation…
Search for waypoint and unity3d, you’ll find a lot of good stuff…
I usedom Animation curves in Lucky cats 3D. When a Cat moves, a New Curve is being constructed and then Played. On Top of that i Used Events wen Curie Animation has finished and a Timer to Fire Other Things. Works good.
