Is there a way to fix it so that tree billboards don’t tilt towards a player when using a first person controller?
They look fine when moving around normally but, as soon as you look upwards, the billboards tilt towards you in a really noticeable and terrible looking effect.
Ive tried playing around with all the terrain detail settings, and the only thing that makes things better is upping the Max Mesh Trees, but that gives you such a huge fps hit, it’s not really a viable solution.
As a workaround, I don’t have a way to turn the tilting off, but I think the problem is more noticeable when the billboard trees are really close to the camera. I have added fog to my scene and I have the maximum mesh trees and the billboard distance both set to 500, with the fog set at 500. I imagine that along with occlusion culling the scene could still have fairly fast performance on lower spec machines, but I am just learning the OC tools (I just went pro recently) and I haven’t seen a real improvement in my frame-rate, even when I am culling trees.
I haven’t figured out a way to fix this and I would love an answer. In fact, I would like full control over the billboards. I would prefer that they each have 2 billboards per tree, placed in an X and not face the camera at all. Hope this helps!
