Tree generation/animation software recommendation


I’m looking to develop a game that renders realistic trees growing and changing seasonally. Seasonal change would include leafing out in the spring and leaves turning color and shedding in the fall. I believe SpeedTree software allows that within their packages, but I don’t think the animation logic is directly importable into Unity. I would appreciate anyone’s recommendation of software or assets that would enable the tree animation I’m trying to achieve. Thanks.


@nhurwitz In Maya there is a tool called n-cloth you can use. This is the link. You can animate leaves blowing off in the wind or falling off the tree and it’s simple enough to do. This is the closest I know of on what you’re trying to accomplish, and the animation should be able to be carried into unity though I don’t know about the tree actually growing or anything.
