hi guys im looking to model a dead style tree (without leafs) and im finding it quite hard in maya to create a low poly one, espcially as its an organic shape so can be quite… curvy. Anyways i was wondering if i were to use zbrush to add more detail and make it look more like a tree would it increase the poly count? or does zbrush just create somthing like a normal map? thanks
Hi mattcscz,
Yeah, you can make a dead tree in zbrush:
-sketch out the rough shape using spheres
-skin it, making your low-poly model.
-decide if you want to make UV’s in zbrush or maya: (if maya, export it to maya, make your UV’s and then import the obj back into Zbrush) (if Zbrush, use the zmapper thing)
-subdivide it until you’re happy w/ the res
-sculpt the tree in zbrush
-make the normal map based on the difference between the low poly mesh and the highpoly one.
Good luck!
