Tree parameters not working

Hi, I have a problem if I make a simple terrain, then lay the asset store’s free trees on it.
None of the controls work at all and Tree Distance only goes from 0 to infinity when I choose anything other than 0.
Billboard Start, Fade Length, Max Mesh Trees don’t have any affect on the tree rendering at all either.
This started happening in all versions of Unity 5.
Can someone tell me what I did wrong? I’m sure I’m missing something simple.
Thanks.

Does anybody have this at all?
I don’t understand what’s going on then. It worked OK in 4.*

Could it be because you are using speed trees? They have there own LOD’s so that might change how trees work.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there any chance that Unity could tell us, or grey out those controls if they are not going to work at all?
That would be more useful than just ignoring them.
Or better still, allow developers to optimise their own game the way they want to.

Best to start from scratch building your own trees and creating your own LOD’s and your own culling system if you want total control on optimizing your game the way you want. Instead of downloading an asset and complaining it doesn’t work the way you expect it to.

Now that’s not fair, what’s the point of having an asset store then?
Look, if there’s a slider that overrides when the trees turn into flat polygons, then I expect it to work as stated.

I agree with that - and the trees have been taking a hit lately after the Unity 5 update dropped.
It may be related to the numerous issues related to the trees not rendering correctly with the lighting engine.

May want to check here for some additional research.
