Trial version not working

I’ve installed the trial version of unity on a G5 using Tiger. When I run the program the default project doesn’t load and all of the menu options (new project etc.) are disabled.

There don’t appear to be any files in the Unity application folder that would appear to be project files and the mounted dmg only contains the installer package.

Although I’ve installed from the unity-1.6.1.dmg when I click on the about menu the reported version is 1.0

What can I do to get this working?

Most likely you have a anti-virus software installed eg. Norton or you are running a haxie from unsanity software. Some of those cause trouble.

Anyway if you can’t figure it out use Report Bug.app and include a complete system profile so we get some information on what you have installed.

No anti-virus here (never needed on on OSX) nor any of unsanity’s software. I’ve sent my system profile with Report Bug.

Did you ever install a past version of Unity? Perhaps the trial doesn’t reset with newer versions.

No, this was my first install.

Incidentally I have copied the dmg to an Intel iMac and installed there. It works fine and the reported version is correct (1.6.1) Could this be a universal binary issue?

I don’t think so because the trial is working fine on my G5 with Tiger. That’s very strange!

I would suggest sending an e-mail to David or Joe and they are always quick to respond with assistance. There e-mails are:
