triggering an animation only when other is triggered

hey everyone

I need to trigger an animation that only starts when I have activated another script

If I made my FPS pick up a rock on getbuttondown. how do I pass it onto another character and then activate another animation alá hes waving and saying thanks.

I cant really figure out how to activate an animation on the other character that knows wether or not im carrying a stone (sorry the bad example)
