Hi all,
Just looking for some advice, how can I texture very steep sections or terrain cliffs? Is it possible to create a “Triplanar” terrainLayer?
Thanks for any advice on this!

I’d suggest you look into microsplat, a replacement shader for unity terrains
Thanks @Querke . I was crossing my fingers to see if there was anything built-in, or if shader graph was working with Terrains yet. This would be perfect!
I was hoping to avoid locking into a specific 3rd party toolset for now!
Sorry, old thread I know, but it came up in the search and I thought it might be good to leave an answer.
You can use shader graph with terrains (you just need to ignore the warning when you drag the shadergraph material into the terrain material slot).
As for texturing steep cliffs you can use a triplanar node with a quick calculation to check when the terrain is steep enough to require the cliff texture and then use lerp to mix it with the rest of the terrain.
See example:
For the rest of the terrain you can follow the video here:
Just make sure if you follow Snubber that your ‘space’ on the Position Node is ‘object’ not ‘absolute world’ like he does in the video.
