Tropical Paradise for Unity 5

For reasons that are probably not relevant* I’d like to get Tropical Paradise (the old nostalgic original sample from Unity 2) working in Unity 5. I’ve slowly got it mostly working up to v4 - just the water shader for the surface foam broken, but that’s not really a problem, as I can replace the old effects with something new when I get round to it, as it is only cosmetic - but the API conversion for Unity 5 has stumbled for a number of scripts; not really a surprise, given how old the original was.

Before I spend loads of time hacking definition, extension and camera references, I thought it best to ask if someone may have already upgraded the island demo into Unity 5. Otherwise, would anyone be interested if I managed to get it running? Or helping?

  • I am teaching AI for Games to my third year students, and would like to use the island as the basis for their Artificial Life experiments. Think Jurassic Park.

OK, no one interested? I’ve got the game working in 5.6.3 by editing and removing scripts, replacing the old water shaders with new ones, and fixing a lot of errors in transferring 3D models between version 4 and 5. If anyone wants the finished level (98% there), then post here.

would be nice to have it linked here, i tested on unity 4.x last time, but all the original project links are dead already…
