Trouble importing from blender 2.56

I am using blender 2.56 and I am having troubles importing animated .fbx files into Unity 3.0. When I import an fbx file that contains no animations or armatures it imports just fine, but when I add armatures the file falls through the floor (even when I add a mesh collider). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
