Trouble with idle animations not activating

Hi all, So I’m working on a Facebook game as art director. I was wondering if you can help me solve an issue I’m having.

I don’t know a whole lot about Unity and its terminology so please bear with me.

The games coders have set up the animations for me and although the idle animations are set they aren’t actually activating.

I’ve attached some screenshots showing the set up for the sheets, as this is for work I don’t want to show anything more than what you need to see so please ask and I’ll send additional screenshots.

In the second screenshot you’ll notice the EastIdle settings are different with End frame set to 0. When I change this rather than animate it appears to animate as I rotate the character around in a circle.

Sorry I can’t be more clear but as I said please do ask more questions and I’ll do my best to answer!

Update:

So I copied the spirit animation prefabs and set them up as nothing but idles with the idle animation set to both idle and walk and its now sort of working. The NW, SW, SE and NE directions all appear to work correctly but the N, S, E and W all seem a bit broken in various ways. I’m not sure whats caused this, any ideas?
