Trying to get started

So i have never done gaming before but i have a lot of time on my hands and figure why not; so i downloaded unity and have been trying to create my game but the problem is i can’t import any assets. The first time i did it i try to download a free asset and it wouldn’t let me log in, so i figured i would give it another day before trying to find someone to help; then today i tried it again and it didn’t give me the log in thing it just started downloading. But then in the beginning of the download it says server will not import please re-import, so i dont know if its just the server being down or is it something on my end?

Start with a Unity Tutorial that includes all the assets and instructions. That will help you get an understanding of how things work before you branch off and start attempting new things.

There are no assets in any where and the tutorials are online. Im not getting what your saying?

And i just checked and there is no spot on the unity maker that has tutorials.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but if you aren’t able to figure out how to search the unity website and setup the tutorials then you’re going to have a REALLY hard time making a complete game.
Just take a look on the website and read everything. They have complete sections for documentation, getting started and all the tutorials. Take your time and go through step by step and you’ll figure it out

Yea i here ya lol. But i am reading “A Practical Introduction to 3D Game Programming” by yesser jaffal and it is asking me to import textures but i can’t, so thats why i reached out to see if this was a technical issue or what. But i will go do some searching

Do these ones, starting with the roll a ball tutorial. Mthey show you how to do everything.

https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials

The first tutorial does not require any assets. (This is the Roll a Ballproject…) The second project (Space Shooter) will walk you through importing assets. I suggest you do them in order: Roll a Ball, then Space Shooter. If you have trouble, in the teaching section of the forum you will find permanent Q&A threads on each project. Read the original post for help, or ask a question in that thread.

ok perfect thank you; yea i did some investigating and found the factory assets and imported them, but thanks for the help can’t wait to get into this.

If you are looking for assets, there are quite a few free assets on the AssetStore.
