I’ve been searching around on my own for awhile but have had absolutely no luck, I can only find partially complete tutorials or completely out of date ones I’m trying to get used to using the Unity vehicles package and get the CarController in particular working right but I keep running into issues.
Does anyone know of any solid tutorials? In case you’re wondering, yes I’ve already checked the documentation for WheelColliders, the code does actually work however it’s still quite buggy to get right. I originally started out with my own little prefab buggy but I’ve since decided to simplify it even to a box like all the tutorials do but even that’s not working right, the car flips over constantly and when it doesn’t I’ve some how managed to make them stretch out along the Z axis yet depending on how I tweak things I can also make the car move slightly.
Would appreciate some resources or help if anyone knows anything, very frustrating trying to find a CarController that genuinely works. The vehicle package must of course work okay and I tried mimicking the whole setup of the prefab car you get which works fine but I can’t get anything like the same results.
So I just thought I’d post a small update because this might help other people struggling with getting vehicles working right, I have sort of got things working all of a sudden and it was because I kept on taking a look at the car prefab provided in the Vehicles Unity Package.
However what I did, was I used the code provided here Unity - Manual: Create a car with Wheel colliders rather than the script from the package and all of a sudden I was accelerating properly yay! What you do is you put wheel colliders on the wheels and make sure that the wheel meshes don’t have colliders, not only that you also need to make sure that the body has a collider as well though that should be fairly self-explanatory. After that the car should at least be set up right generally and it’s just a matter of tweaking settings until you get what you want.
Now my only issue is that I keep rolling over extremely easily, since I don’t have any clue about the settings themselves and what they mean I don’t really know how to fix this, but I have seen posts about how you’re supposed to put in anti-roll bars of some sort between your wheels to prevent it from flipping over so easily.
