Two cameras?

the Lerpz sample uses a two-camera system to select different culling layers for a near and far camera, respectively.

Sounds like a reasonable way of doing things, bit its not really clear how this works, and if its applicable to the iPhone.

Can someone enlighten me as to what’s going on here?

I think you should use this technique instead:
