U3B6... um... projects

I installed U3B6, and I have zero projects now, all of my projects are gone. I had them all in my Unity Projects folder, luckly I have backups of them, but my folder is now empty. Is this a fluke?

Also, after restoring my project from backup, U3B6 has the same issue as all the other U3Bx, Although I have sqlite3.dll in my project folder and in my assets folder, I still get this error:
System.DllNotFoundException: sqlite3

So I have to do what I have posted in many other places and I think I have an open ticket on this issue, I have to copy the sqlite3.dll into the :
C:\Program Files\Unity\Editor

Before my sqlite will work again.

 Can you post more details on what you did, platform you installed it on, etc? I installed b6 on my Mac without any issues but haven’t tried it on a Windows machine yet.

Step 1) Download the U3B6 to my Toshiba laptop
Step 2) ran the setup with all defaults
Step 3) Opened Unity
Step 4) All previous projects window is empty, so clicked on the “Open Other”
Step 5) browsed to my “Unity Projects” folder in my “My Documents” folder, folder is empty

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Uh-oh…

I did notice that with B6 (on a Mac at least) the default preferences seem to have been “re-set” to the original settings. But my project folders were untouched. I wonder whether that might have caused the installer to over-write your projects?

Based on what you’ve posted, I think you should post a bug report mui rapido.

Incidentally, where do you keep your project folders?

The preferences were split in 3.0 b6. Do you still have 2.6.1 installed? If you do open it up and see if your projects show up in the Project Wizard. We have not experienced any bug of this sort while testing so please make absolutely sure that your project folders are actually gone and not just wiped from the Project Wizard dialog preferences.

My U3 project are all stored in:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Unity Projects

I do no thave 2.6x installed on this machine -at all-
Prior to any installation of the beta’s I burn a DVD of my projects folder “just in case” anything goes blamo. After the install, well, blamo happened. Don’t know why, don’t know how. I realize that on each install the recent projects list might or might not be whiped out, so simply clicking on “Open Other” in <= U3B5 got me to my projects just fine, I selected their folder and opened / upgraded the project if asked.

It is rather a simple process, I always simply let the setup do what ever it wants to see what happens, but I never leave myself naked to a loss of all data in my programs. I am absolutely sure that the folder listed above had my projects in it at the time I ran the setup and let Unity uninstall the last version and install the new version. I am also absolutely sure it was empty when it started up and “Open Other” showed me an empty project folder, so I went to the windows explorer, browsed to the folder, and sure enough, it was empty.

Who knows, probably just a fluke of nature, probably just my machine in general, unless someone else reports it, don’t worry about it, lets see if anyone else experiences this issue, if they don’t then it was just a fluke on my machine.

Ok, that is a Unity created folder and if it was wiped during the installation of b6 while we created new preferences that is a serious bug. Glad you had a back-up (everyone should be backing up while using beta software of course) and thanks for letting us know about the issue.

If I had lost all of my work without a backup with the upgrade in beta, that would have been my fault and my stupidity, hopefully you can locate that condition that causes the wipe and put some strong checks in to make sure it doesn’t happen. I don’t know why it happened or how it happened, I just know it did happen. You know me, I always find the strangest things in the oddest places at the most bizzare times. Who knows, it might not ever happen to anyone else besides me. Good luck with that bug. Project folder wipe is a nasty bug to deal with.
