U6 design changed for the sake of change

A few examples of poor redesign with zero motivation and no benefit to the user, or missed opportunities:

  1. Tab height was “padded”, QA dixit, what for? serves no purpose and eats up more precious vertical space.

  2. Layout popup now uses a non standard design, any benefit to breaking consistency? Nope.

  3. Layer moved to the scene view with no improvement. Example of improvement: show layer is used by highlighting the button like effect stack.

    Also, the icon is nearly identical to effects stack.

  4. Account was moved to the left but not the cloud button - when you shuffle things around you absolutely must be consistent in the grouping to onboard users with your change (benefit of logic vs detriment of changing muscle memory)
    also, not finishing a good idea indicates infighting within the organization or too many cooks. Unity minus Ricitiello must fix organizational issues or it’s just a head change.

  5. Colors are MUCH harsher and semantic zones are removed, thus lowering readability.
