UA 2009: Dead Man's Dice

Hey all,

My husband and I thought it’d be fun to make a game together, so we picked a simple concept and ran with it. Just a few weeks later and we have something fairly cool, that we enjoy playing together, and best yet the experience didn’t ruin our marriage (cheers to Unity for that, any other game engine and I’m sure we’d be filing papers by now)

The game is Liar’s Dice, tailored for the iPhone. It’s something we enjoy playing with friends from time to time, but usually find ourselves without the 20-some dice required to make it fun. This version is meant especially for pass around play: gather some friends, type in a few names, and get to bluffing!

We still have a bit of polishing to do (not to mention sounds to add) before submitting the game to the app store, but in a couple weeks it should be ready to go. Comment away, we’d appreciate any thoughts or advice

Oh, and congrats to everyone participating in the awards ceremony. We’re really impressed with what we’re seeing. And thank you Unity!

Awesome. Hooray for working with your significant other. Making and playing video games with mine is the cornerstone of our relationship.

Oh wow. I just got back to working on this tonight, and decided it was about time to add sounds. For some reason I’ve always left those for last (probably because with low-level game development audio tends to be a PITA). But tonight… it’s the first time I’ve used sounds in Unity and, as with everything else, I’m simply impressed with how easy it was. Just thought I should share this euphoric feeling of good will with everyone involved

Oh, and Jessy I should have responded to your post earlier. I’m totally with you, games have always had a significant place in our relationship as well… Congrats on finding someone special to share them with, I’d love to see what you guys are working on!
