UI/FX Animation optimization, Using Animator Controller or simple Animation?

Hello Unity developers.

Im looking a way to optimizase animations in the game (UI or FX), right now The animator.update is taking a lot of resources, are there is no Bones and meshs , mostly of the animations are sprite, 2d fx, ui transform.

How could i improve that? would be better to delete the controller and use the old legacy animation for it?
Any tips, webpage, documentation about that part of unity?

Regards!

This will probably fall under Playables API. It gives you the ability to do stuff kinda like an animation controller, only through script, and can work like the legacy API where you specify an animation clip to play.

I’m also very interested about this matter as the project I’m working on is very UI heavy and dynamic in flow, no clear cut Pages/Views.

Mecanim has a nice state machine visual editor but sometimes it’s too difficult to use for UI. Layers for example mostly work on character animation and while you can use them for some additive animations on UI, it’s not as flexible for non-character animation.

yes, mechanim for UI some time can be a headache, also for simple 2d sprite FX.

would be nice to have some input from unity team.
